Opinion

Personally i had never worked with a blog before. I really founded extremely interesting. I think is a very innovate way of teaching, I congratulate our Professor because she used this fun tool. I liked it a lot, I hope to have the opportunity to teach english through it some day. there are many advantages in using blogs, because you can prepare fun activities for the students to do, activities that will motivate the writing development more than in a classroom. The only thing that may be a disadvantage is that internet sometimes does not work as teacher want, but that can be solved easyly.

As I said before, I congratulate miss Sandra Pichinao for been so cool and innovate, I think everything was all right with these lab sessions.

The importance of writing in EFL

Writing is very important in EFL because is a form of output. Through writing, teacher potenciate the good development of the output process, because the students can organize his thoughts and knowledge in a paper. It also helps children in the building of fluency, through the writing practice. Finally, it is a way of developing accuracy(in grammar, vocabulary, etc.)through this the student evidently rehearse the new words and grammatical structures acquired.

The Superhero Bear

What does he like to do on Saturdays?

This Superhero Bear likes to visit his friends at the zoo on saturday afternoons.

What is the secret he doesn't want anyone to know?

That he is afraid of mice.

What does he think he does well?

He thinks he flies as good as a bird or even better.

What is he not good at doing?

At landing!

What is his favorite memory?

When he made a glorious rescue saving a cat that was in a tree.

What is his top superpower?

He does not have any special power, but he can eat and sleep as nobody else can do.

Who is his best friend?

The cat he rescued

What does he want most in the whole world?

To be the greatest superhero ever known for his beloved .

A short story about the SuperBear Hero.
Some bad guys are making a lot of troubles in Bearland. The perfect opportunity for Superhero Bear to be the greatest superhero of the world and in that way, to catch her beloved´s eye into him.

One evening, the bad guys robbed a bank and the SuperBear hero was wandering around. He remembered that his beloved used to work in that bank, so he went to help, changed his clothes and tried to fly over the building, but he could not do it. He just fell rifht on a window, crashed on of the robbers and the others run away, then he rescued his love.

From that day on she was very interested in this Superhero, but he did not want his beautiful sweet heart knew his secret, his fear for mice. What shame if she did, so he faced that fear and actually did it.

Now, they are a happy couple, since he revealed her who he was, they are living in a normal house with a normal life. Sometimes they visit their friends at the zoo and tell their amazing story full of love.

Use tour imagination!

It was monday morning, Susan woke up very early and very sad. She knew she was going to attend a school in which surely she was going to feel uncomfortable. Susan is a very good student that is why she won a shoolarship to study in one of the best schools of the state, but this did not make her happier. She knows she is the only hope for his family to overcome finacial problems, but that school is attended by only rich people and she is so humble and poor.

The first days were owful, the whole group looked a her as if looking a pauper, in breaks, all people turned their backs on her talking and whispering about her way of talk and dress. She felt so badly that she even thought not to come back to school.

A professor was very interested in Susan´s good qualifications, so she talked to her and soon she became her main supporter. She learned that her many possitive qualities would take her as far as she wanted no matter how many people were against her.

Susan became the best student of school, admired, loved, and now self confidant enough to to face her fears.

Her family was so proud of her as she received her college degree. All problems are ended now, she is one of the best doctors in one of the best hospital of United States. Happines has arrived to stay.

New York Times article

Study links age of blood in transfusions to infections
By REUTERS
Published: October 29, 2008

I found this article very interesting because something related with medice is occuring in our country, exactly in the North part.

The article is about blood storage and the consecuences of using it after to be stored more than 29 days. These consecuences might be: blood stream infections, pneumonia, urinary tract infections, heart valve infections, and other kinds of diseases.

The interesting thing is that after being too much time stored, red blood cells experience changes like the release of biochemical substances called cytokines, that make patients become more vulnerable to infections, according to what researchers said.

Dispite of being exposed to this small risk, patients have to aware that benefits are many more.

Through the reading of this article I could learn these new words:

Taint: To affect with or as if with a disease.

Render: To surrender or relinquish.

TV and our children, where is the limit?

I chose this topic because I am really worried about it. Many parents are rising their children and basing their values on the television programs. Unfortunately many aspects of the family are being forgotten, like familiar conversations and activities, friendship between parents and children, and so. It is difficult to find a father or mother who reads each night a tale to his or her child. I would like to investigate about this topic.

Some sources that I found about it are:

Comments about my classmates´ interviews

*Well, there was something that caught my attention when reading Mr Ramos interview made by Marcos Huerta. I would never have thought that Mr Ramos´s first option to study was nursing. I got surprised because it seems that some english students or teachers have some simelar likes, I mean, my first option was nursing as well, that is why this cauth my attention.
*I really liked Constanza´s interview. I think she made a very interesting work about something that we are not much involved in. I guess so few of us have ever tried this fascinating sport, and it is great to know a little bit more about it.
*I learned that most of time we just see other people right next to us, but we do not know very much about them. Through these interviews we could see how interesting they can be if we just have a little talk with them.

Should men be allowed to have more than one wife?

I chose this topic mainly because I am a married woman and I would not like to see my husband to have another wife, it would be terrible. Besides, in our occidental culture people are used to have just one wife and there would be such a problem if that occurs some day.

Interview to Gerald Vyhmeister

Gerald Vyhmeister is currently biology Professor at the Adventist University of Chile. He has spent all his life on investigating world´s amazing things through the trips he has made under the Church´s direcction. That is precisaly this interview about, his many trips and expiriences while traveling.
1. You have made many trips; can you tell us something about that?
I have traveled a lot around the world mainly to Europe, Suth America, North America, South Africa. However, Asia, the Middle East and Australia are places I have never been to.

2. So, how many countries have you visited?
I don´t have an account of the countries , I can say that in South America I have visited almost every country except Paraguay and Guyana. In North America several states of the US and Canada. In Central America, Jamaica, Bahamas, Mexico. In Europe, France , England, Scotland, Germany, Luxemburg, Italy, Zwitzerland, Austria, and Denmark. In Africa, well it has 60 countries, and I have been only to Kenya, Uganda, Ruanda, Burundi, and the Republic of Congo from Central Africa. After that, I stayed in Benin and Ghana. I think that is all, you can tell later how many countries I have visited.

3. I know yuo have not just visited but you have also lived in some countries.

In Peru I was six years, which is the country where I got my Phd (Doctor Philosophiae) in Education. Then i was in Jamaica for about five years at the Adventist University and also in some Caribbean Islands. I lived in an island that is in the northern part of Venezuela eh...........I forgot the name.

4. And Also you lived in Ruanda, right?

Well, Iwas there about 8 years, eh....I was teaching at the Adventist University and because there was a war I was about 8 months in the Republic of Congo, it is next to Ruanda. I was asked to lead the work of ADRA in that country during the war helping the refugees. Thre were like one million of refugees. Iwas there until I had the possibility to go baack to Ruanda and continue teaching at the university.

5. After visiting so many countries, which is the most beautiful?
All of them, it does no matter which country I have visited, every one has some beauty, you know beauty has no rules.

6. Do you remember a special moment in any of these countries?

Yeah, so many special moments, but I think the most beautiful ones were when I lived with the refugees in the Republic of Congo during the war. I saw the best and the worst of the human being. The worst was the killing, and the best was the people who came to help, to solve problems, with the lack of food, the lack of places to stay. There were a lot of people helping, and you did not even stop to think that that person could be from one country or another; there was no room for discrimination.

7. You definetely like to travel, don´t you?

Yes, I like it a lot. Now I have plans to travel to Argentina, but because of the classes I cannot for the moment. I have some relatives there and some friends too that I want to visit.

8. If you had the possibility to travel again, which country would you like to visit this time?
I would like to travel to some parts of Asia; I have friends living in some countries there. Friends that I had the opportunity to work with in the past. There are other special countries that I would like to visit but the problem is the money, where do you get all that money? I have to tell you that I have spent very little money from my pocket on these trips, because the chuc has been paying almost evereything to work in every country they can send me and they used to pay me vacation every two years, so that helped me a lot.

9. So I guess that your plans in this moment are to continue teaching at the university.

Well, I like to teach, but also I am working on a book about some talks that I have been preparing, but I think the main objective is already accomplished so I feel free to do other things.

Thank you very much for you time.

Welcome guys!!!!

Hi:

I´m Marí José from Chile. I´m a married woman with an amazing husband. I actually have created this blog and written on it, because I´m an English student at the Adventist University of Chile taking an interesting subject called "Writing". I hope you have a lot of fun on it, so go ahead and enjoy this web page.

Argumentative Essays

Argumentative Essays are pieces of writing where you can write respectuflly, logically and objectively about any topic presented by someone else or yourself. Find a topic to discuss about it is a hard task, because you have to avoid arguments based on your preferences, believes .or faith. This is because you always need evidence to support your ideas, and arguments.
